In designing the Canon PIXMA iX6850, Canon engineers have discarded everything that might be redundant and which ultimately makes the product more expensive and large and complicated. This printer has no input for memory cards or USB sticks intended for direct printing, nor does it have a digital display that tells you about the status and options available and, as we saw earlier, it also does not have a paper tray so it cannot offer duplex functions for double-sided printing. To be able to get along with computers and develop their functions, the Canon PIXMA iX6850 has three possibilities: a WiFi connection, a network connection via a LAN cable or a direct connection to the computer via a USB cable. I tried, as the first option, a wireless connection that has been very simple for me with other Canon models (see Canon Pixmia MG7150 review) but it is not possible. So finally, all testing has been done by configuring the printer as a network printer via LAN cable with optimal results in terms of connectivity.
Otherwise, the process of operating the printer is very simple and can be done in five minutes by following a quick installation guide that explains it in several images.
